1. Tell us about who you are and your journey to where you are now!
My name is Jillian Redrow, and I am a Fort Worth, Texas native. I'm 29 years old, and my journey to where I am now has been anything but linear! I struggled with bulimia for 12 years, and drank alcoholically for 6 of them. These addictions took me to some deeply dark places which included rehabs and jail. I was so lost. I was so lonely. But, what I have since learned is that the eating disorder was never about the food or my appearance. The drinking wasn't just an accidental crutch for my depression. They were both extremely dedicated mechanisms for disconnecting from my heart and body. They were numbing mechanisms, because at the time, I couldn't bear to actually feel my feelings or face my traumas. At the age of 27, I finally began to heal through practicing and implementing mindfulness into my everyday life. I started with meditation and yoga. These tools got me back into my body and helped me reconnect to my heart space. When I had gone 6 months without making myself sick, I couldn't believe it! I had been succumbing to my eating disorder every day for 12 years, and only by truly reconnecting to my body, and choosing to feel into my emotions in order to heal them, was I able to take back control of my life and my body. I Was also in the peak of my Saturn Return at the time, so I was really shook! I realized I was meant to turn my mess into my message and help other women who were out there suffering with disordered eating, binge drinking, and worthiness wounds to take their power back and reconnect to their bodies and hearts to heal. I completed a 10-month 400-hour life coaching certification, and now I have the honor to help guide women who are on their own healing journeys.
2. What is the mission of your brand? How does it empower women?
I help women living on shoulds, shame, and guilt ditch the constant dieting and drinking so they can reconnect to their bodies, heal, and thrive. My brand's mission is to provide the container, coaching, and tools needed to help women feel empowered to tap into their own bodies' healing wisdom so they can recover from disordered eating and negative body image. I don't empower my clients. They empower themselves. We all have the healing medicine we need within us, but in my experience, it is extremely beneficial to work with a coach who can hold space for you, mirror back to you your B.S. and your greatness, and hold you in the lense of your Highest Self while you begin implementing the healing tools and methodologies into your life.
3. How do you collaborate with women working towards a better world?
I love to collaborate with other female entrepreneurs who are using their unique gifts to improve our world! I love to co-host workshops with other women in the wellness/ mental health/ recovery space. Podcasts are another favorite medium of mine to utilize to spread the message of healing and female empowerment.
4. What is the biggest challenge you’ve had to press through as a female entrepreneur and what are the steps you’ve taken to overcome it?
Perfectionism and limiting beliefs. I believe it's so easy for women to get caught up in trying to make everything "perfect" before they launch their dream biz, or trying to wait for a "bigger safety net" or the "perfect time". Perfect is a lie, and so is "Ready". I struggled with perfectionism and my own limiting beliefs telling me I wasn't good enough, smart enough, or talented enough to launch my own business. All of these negative stories were rooted in the core belief that "I was unworthy". And until we recognize what our own core limiting beliefs are, it won't matter what actions we take or behaviors we try to change to alter our outcomes. Our beliefs drive our thoughts, feelings, actions, and results. Our bodies and systems need consistency. So, If I want to launch a business, but my underlying belief is that "I'm incapable/unworthy," then it won't matter if I hired Tony Robbins and he's planning my launch for me. If my core belief is rooted in unworthiness, then I will self-sabotage and my Tony Robbins launch will fail. We can't just change our actions, we have to shift the underlying beliefs that are driving our actions in order to create sustainable change.
I have a one-pager attached that explains this whole process of reprogramming limiting beliefs.
5. What advice would you give to a female entrepreneur in the beginning stages of launching her brand or business?
Stick to your values, vision, and voice. In moments of self-doubt and fear, use tools to work through them. Befriend fear. Fear will always be there--it lets you know you're alive. So, let fear be there, but don't allow it to steer the ship. If you can take the mishaps as lessons and learn from them, they become your touchstones for growth. Failure is only real if you give up. As long as you are standing in your truth and vision and learning from your mistakes, you aren't failing.
6. What sets your brand apart from others?
My brand is really about showing women they can empower and heal themselves. Like I said earlier, I am not anyone's guru. I can't heal someone else. They must do the inner work and rise to the occasion. My mission is to help women find what they need to heal themselves from the inside out. It's not a one-size-fits-all approach. It's a container provided to help women embrace their own uniqueness and cultivate authentic self-love methodologies that work for them.
